We are alive, doing much better emotional as well. Between field hockey, swim classes, summer enrichment classes, summer school for Bebo and Twink, and trying to sell our house it has been insane. I hope to be back soon! I miss you all. :(

Anybody Still Here?
Quick update before I head off to bed. First I can't believe it has been a month since I've last poseted! I've been without my computer forever. I am using dh's and it is not my favorite. Mine had mulitple viruses on it and has since been fixed only now I have a black screen with some error message. Hopefully it will be fixed for good this weekend. It is probably for the best as I have started my ASL (American Sign Language) class at the college. I am in love with this language. I'll have more on that later.

Hi, I'm Maureen, and was directed to your blog by a member of a forum. My husband and I are adopting a little girl from China who is five and is deaf. We are awaiting TA, and I'm hopeful for a September travel date. When we decided to look at the Waiting Child list, we didn't go into this looking for a deaf child, even though I'm a sign language interpreter. I had to think of my husband, who knows no sign, and my family, who know no sign. But there she was, and we both knew she was ours.
ReplyDeleteSo, I'm interested in knowing how things went when you first met your son, did you have family greeting you at the airport when you arrived home, and any other insight you may offer. We're still trying to determine her communication level, and know her foster family can sign, but we don't know if it's formal Chinese Sing Language or a regional variation.

Computer troubles, hubby out of the country and generally too many kids in the room to have the clarity necessary to sit and write something that makes sense. Once school starts I'll get back to it.
